James E. King Jr., PhD | Miles-Rose Professor of Leadership
James E. King Jr. is the Associate Dean for Culture and Success and the Miles-Rose Professor of Leadership in the Culverhouse College of Commerce at the University of Alabama. He received his PhD in Organizational Behavior from the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill, an MBA (with Human Resource Concentration) from the Kelly School of Business at Indiana University in Bloomington and a BS in Electrical Engineering from the University of Alabama. During his engineering training he worked for NASA at the Marshall Space Flight Center. Prior to entering academia, he was a human resource professional for the General Electric Corporation where he completed the Human Resource Leadership Program and worked in areas including recruiting, appraisal, training and labor relations. He has served as an expert witness in the area of employment discrimination, has worked with municipal departments to carry out fair and defensible promotional processes and consulted with the FBI on the methods and benefits of inclusivity in respect to religious diversity.
His research interests include improving career and assessment outcomes, human resource analytics, work/life interactions and workplace religious diversity issues. His work has been published in various human resource and management journals.

Paige Miller
Paige Miller is the Manager for Culture and Success in the Culverhouse College of Business. She received her MA in Counselor Education and BS in Elementary Education from The University of Alabama. She has more than 18 years’ experience in higher education including career services, gender inequity and victim services, and academic advising. She has worked 15 years conducting social justice and diversity programming including co-facilitating the Student Life Social Justice Series and serving as a trained facilitator for American Association of University Women Start Smart pay equity workshops.
Jasmine Thomas
Jasmine Thomas is a Student Success Program Manager in the Culverhouse College of Business. She received her MBA and BBA in Finance from The University of Montevallo. She’s currently pursuing her PhD in Communication and Information Sciences, and her focused area of study is Communication and Culture, Racial Identity, and Social Justice. Before transitioning to the Office of Culture and Success, she served as an Academic Advisor in the Culverhouse Student Services office. Prior to coming to UA, she worked in the athletics department at The University of Montevallo, where she specialized in NCAA compliance, academics, and game-day operations. She has spent much of her career supporting and advocating for students and ensuring their success within academics and beyond.
