We are a supportive community, committed to personal engagement and dedicated to shaping the future of business through excellence in teaching, research, and service.
The Office of Culture and Success engages in specific programs and also with stakeholders around any activity to help Culverhouse live up to our aspirations.
The Culture and Success Leadership and Mentoring Program (LMP) helps freshmen during the transition to college. Building on a cascading mentorship model and peer mentoring specifically, it promotes engagement and development through community. These are keys to retention, success, and well-being. With continued engagement and employment opportunities for upper-level students, it contributes to ongoing development and success.
Culverhouse Employee Activity Groups provide faculty and staff with opportunities to connect beyond the workplace through shared interests. Extending work of taskforce to enhance work and non-work interactions through Faculty/Staff Activity Groups.
The Culverhouse Business Prep Summer Program is a one-week, on-campus residential experience designed to support rising high school seniors in Alabama who would benefit from additional preparation for college success, and exploration of business as a potential major.
Participants will explore potential business majors, connect with faculty and alumni, participate in hands-on workshops and a local business field trip, and participate in an elevator pitch competition. Those who successfully complete the summer experience and later enroll at The University of Alabama to pursue a degree in business will receive continued academic support, including guidance on applying for scholarships and other financial resources.
Drawing on our Leadership and Mentoring Program we offer support to student organizations in their membership development efforts. Emphasis is placed on a successful college transition for freshmen, including peer mentoring, and leadership development of all members.
Participating in, advocating for, and suggesting ways that processes (e.g., recruiting, awards, and promotions) can be more consistent with and promote our aspirations.
