Office of Culture & Success

The mission of the Culverhouse College of Business is we are an inclusive community, committed to personal engagement, and dedicated to shaping the future of business through excellence in teaching, research, and service.

The mission statement characterizes the kind of culture and the key elements of success to which we aspire. The Office of Culture and Success works to ensure we fulfill and maintain these aspirations.

The Office of Culture and Success takes to heart the adage that “Culture eats strategy for breakfast”.  This is not a suggestion that strategy and culture are in opposition, but a memorable admonition to stress that unless you have a culture that supports it, your strategy will not succeed.

The Office of Culture and Success engages in specific programs and also with stakeholders around any activity to help Culverhouse live up to our aspirations.

College-Wide Peer Mentoring: Coordinating effort to use peer-mentoring as a focal mechanism to increase student engagement and development across the College, drawing on various internal and external stakeholders and existing efforts.

Culture and Collaboration: Extending work of taskforce to enhance work and non-work interactions through Faculty/Staff Activity Groups.

Leadership and Mentoring Program: Community-based approach to help freshmen successfully transition to college and to provide developmental guidance and leadership opportunities for students at all levels.

Process Infusion: Participating in, advocating for, and suggesting ways that processes (e.g., recruiting, awards, and promotions) can be more consistent with and promote our aspirations.

Speaker Series & Conferences: Broaden student engagement with alumni and other professionals to deepen development and preparation for professional environments and careers.

Summer Programs: Strategically unlocking the potential of high school students by boosting their understanding of business as a college and career options, increasing their preparation for the challenges and opportunities, while showcasing why Culverhouse is a great place to pursue a path in business.
